I think that sometimes, revealing a sudden character trait, just some random thing, like an unexplained irrational phobia, an aversion to something, a preference for one type of food or another, or an unexpected hobby, is a nice thing to do. In this case, Shift's phobia of frogs. In reality, people are complex and sometimes unexpectedly show these kinds of traits-- this is something that rarely shows up in comics however.
